A Letter from the President: Joanne Pavlis
Greetings!!!!........and Happy New Year! I 'm writing to all of our frequent visitors and to those of you that have just found MileMakers.
2009 has brought more then just beautiful horses, a successful horsemanship program, winning race horses, and finishing endurance horses. Each year our success starts and continues with commited owners, lesson students, and horse enthusiasts.
MileMakers is successful because of their continued education, as well as, the education passed on to all those involved in the MileMakers program. Our goal, as MileMakers in 2010, is to focus on good horsemanship practices, and helping new and old horse owners with partnership success.
I like to use the same ideals as the dog whisper, Cesar Milan, by saying "We rehabilitate horses and train people!"
The goal of MileMakers in 2010 is still to spend the time to continue our knowledge and education of horse training, handling and instruction, but to continue to focus on the importance of horse partnership and success of human and horse releationship. We will do this whether we are working with current owners, or helping new owners find their first horse, or new horse. We will continue to provide the highest level of education, and the tools needed for a happy and healthy equine partnership.
With the decline of the economy, there are TOO MANY ANIMALS, not just horses, in need of "forever care". As a horse trainer, I sort through the classifieds daily, recognizing many horses I have ridden, or trained, that are still looking for a permanent home. Some of these horses just need a simple change due to owner finances.... others, are needing rehabilitation and new careers. And sadly, others just need a more successful match.
At any rate, there have been some outstanding changes to the dynamics of MileMakers which should help benefit every horse and every human to create a more successful relationship. MileMakers will no longer advocate the "sale" of horses in our program, however we will have horses availble for "rehoming" or adoption". These horses will be honestly represented for what type of career or discipline they will shine in.
All the horses available, weather they are adoptable through FRONT RANGE EQUINE RESCUE or REHOMED by MileMakers have been looked over by a veternarian, who have given individual animals complete exams with observation regarding soundness, health and overall mental and physical attributes, which help them place more successfully into new homes.
All parameters with regards to maintence, upkeep or underlining expectations will be considered, and stated at the time of meeting each horse and their use as individuals. MileMakers in now way, makes warranties, expressed or implied, including fitness for particular purpose unless otherwise provided.
We will do our best to honestly represent each available horse that are in the training and care of MileMakers with the hopes that both the humans and horses feel well matched. This type of program has been implimented to save time, money and heartache for not only the new owner but the horse and the adoptors as well. MileMakers is very excited to enhance their horse placement program, riding program and conditioning program in 2010!. Stay tuned for updates surrounding available horses, private lessons and clinic objectives.
What a exciting year 2010 will be!

Milemakers is an exclusive Colorado Endurance Horse and Pleasure Distance Horse Facility. With access to over 1000 acres of private land, at 7215 feet of elevation, our location offers extensive trail training options. Our high altitude, and rugged terrain, provide our horses the same training advantage as the U.S. Olympic Team gains in neighboring Colorado Springs. Just outside our stable doors, we have single track trails that traverse through trees, over rock outcropping, and across a multitude of natural obstacles. In conjunction with the technical terrain, we have miles and miles of wide open spaces ...with rolling hills for every training option.......including those nice long gallops for advanced horses and riders, ... and those Long Slow Miles for young horses and beginners.
We are conveniently located within 8 miles of the Pike National Forest, and the Douglas County Open Space Trails and State Parks. In addition to the vital trailering experience, our horses can be exposed to the diversity of the thousands of miles of protected trails within the National Forest and the Open Spaces.
If you travel from Denver or Colorado Springs...... it is only approximately 40 miles. Castle Rock, Colorado is the closest town which offers all the "people amenities" necessary if planning a visit to ride and train at our ranch. We offer transient horses overnight or weekly board arrangements. The facility has large box stalls with oversized sand runs and automatic waterers, an 80 x 225 indoor arena, a heated wash rack, a 60' round pen and several large pastures for turnouts. We are a private facility and ask that you make reservations for both personal visits, and/or overnight horse care or weekly accomodations.
