How are the adoptable horses different from the available horses on the Milemakers site?
Milemakers supports the care and welfare of horses that have needed rehabilitation and retraining. Adoptable horses are available to those that submit applications and meet the criteria necessary for adoption. Adoptable horses are represented for the riding ability with some having limitation. All horses that are adoptable have been looked over by a veterinarian and are evaluated by professional trainers. The goal is place these horses in the right homes so they never see bad times again.
DeNiro- is a 5 yr old Arabian Gelding. He stands a tall, 14.3H. DeNiro has bone growth on his jaw. Although it is not painful it is large. We did not have it removed due to a condition where the periostium of the bone when exposed to the air, will remodel faster then his skin will scar! We have had 2 vets look at it and made the decision to leave it since they said it might come back after surgery and even bigger!
No matter! DeNiro has been adopted!! Congratulations to Nicole Beck-Gilette, WY
Cleo and Gretchen- Cleo and Gretchen are really ready for new homes!! They have been riding on trails in groups and alone. They like to school in the arena with junior riders do obstacle courses and equitation. They both have been ridden English and Western!!
Cleo- has a more sensitive personality and does require a person who is confident to show her they are the leader. She has no vices as a riding horse. She loves to move cattle and has very smooth gaits. Good choice for pleasure trail riding or even competitive distance riding!
Gretchen- is no nonsense and not spooky. She also like to jump small obstacles and has a very big trot making her a good prospect as a competitive distance horse.
Bacardi-8 yr old Thoroughbred Cross Gelding
Bacardi
Bacardi is an 8 yr old Thoroughbred Cross Gelding. He stands about 16.1H. Bacardi has an old scar on his hind foot and stifle that seems to be an old wire cut injury. Bacardi is sound for riding but does require joint supplements. He is in excellent health and condition. He offers to have a lot of dressage training and requires a rider who rides well with their seat and leg. Bacardi is brave on the trail as a pleasure horse. We LOVE Bacardi!
